Oh What a Night for Sam

Tonight Sam and I spent the evening at Davis Hospital!
Micah's friend Nick had this awesome weight set to give to Sam and so that night he was
BEYOND EAGER to start using it.
Note to Sam - when you lift make sure your 'spotter' weights more then the weights you are lifting! :)

It's Official- Sam Finally has a Prom Date

It finally arrived!!!  Last night the doorbell rang and Sam found a package with his name on it.  The funny part is that he only had half of the letters he needed and his friend David had the other half.  And it only took two teenage boys, three parents and word scrambler to figure it out.

Micah finally had enough and pulled up word scrambler and entered the letters to determine it said:
A-B-S-O-L-U-T-E-L-Y
The larger letter are the letters Sam found sandwiched in between a handful of Oreo's

Now let the fun begin  . . . Sam needs to find a tie and vest, figure out a day-date activity and determine what group of people he wants to spend with at Prom.  Two weeks and counting until the big day.

Our Trip Home

On our way back home from Las Vegas we took our time and stopped in St. George to see the Temple, the Tabernacle and have a late-lunch early-dinner at Brick Oven Pizza.  It was nice to be able to stop and see St. George in fact it was the first time Micah and I have stopped during one of our road trips other than to get gas.

We stopped at the Tabernacle and walked through the tour, and then off to the temple grounds to enjoy the sunshine and bright flowers.  Lunch/Dinner was not bad, but it was not great either!  It was nice to be able to enjoy the warm weather and take our time getting home.

It was great, however, to get one picture of all four of us from our trip!

Visit to North Las Vegas to see Pawn Stars

Before heading back home the boys and I stopped by the Gold & Sliver Pawn shop a.k.a the Pawn Stars location to look around.  We were surprised to see a line of people waiting to get in also  . . . we waited in line about 20 minutes and we surprised to find that the store was much smaller then we had expected.

Chumlee was there for autographs and pictures; and took a break shortly before we got to him, but that was ok we really just wanted to look around.  While we were there though we did get to see The Old Man and Rick working behind the counters - It was a nice ending to a great get away!
Kaylab thought he would sneak up on Sam a few times and before he knew it
he was being tossed around like a wet towel.
What a wonderful way to end our trip; shortly before we left the boys wanted to go swimming one more time.  So we headed for the pool one last time . . .  I layed out by the pool enjoying the sunshine (and taking some pictures) while the boys had a good time.

That's Right They are Swimming

We decided to stay one more night in Las Vegas so as soon as we got back to the Hotel the boys suited up and headed to the swimming pool - It was pretty nice!  The pool was heated to a luke warm bath water and the sun was shining just enough to keep you warm.  My mom and I sat by the pool with our feet in - while my dad and Micah took a much needed nap.

Driving Around Las Vegas

My Most Favorite Hotel . . .
The rooms are super nice and I love watching the dualing pianos downstaris in one of the lounges.
My Cat's Namesake . . .  Such a pretty kitty she is - we just love her.

Wynn Hotel and Casino

Here are a few snap shots on our way to have dinner; the Wilson's wanted to try the Wynn Buffet while in Las Vegas to compare to the Mandalay Bay Buffet that has been a family favorite for the last seven years!

Sam LOVED it; all the sushi and shell fish he could eat!

Kaylab had a difficult time finding items that he liked, but he is is 12 years old after all. He was thrilled to find steak, pasta and pizza that he enjoyed.

Micah and I both agreed that it was a great variety of food, but for two people who prefer traditional cooking to that of gourmet it was difficult to find items that appealed to our taste buds. Micah really enjoyed the dessert bar, apparently the ice cream was the best thing ever!  I tried a tempura shrimp sushi roll that I liked and ate mostly asparagus and veggies items.  They did have the most amazing broccoli cheese soup though!!!
My parents, Kevin and Irene seem to LOVE it as well, they had all those fruity flavored salads, and full of life and flavor food items.

The waiter lacked skills - in fact we were each given our drink of choice and when it came to refills he thought we all needed water!!!  By the third refill - you had to ask for something to drink!

What was Sam Thinking!?!?!?

Sam says . . .  "Micah and Tanya I was thinking . . . . we should bring Duke home with us!?!?"

Wynn Hotel and Casino - Ferrarri Store

While Micah, my mom, Irene and my dad, Kevin were off playing . .  the boys and I headed over to the Ferrari Store inside the Wynn Hotel & Casino.  Saw some pretty interesting stuff . . . and some EXPENSE stuff too!  The model car inside the plastic box was over $18,000.00.

Boozer vs. The Ham

Micah thought it was be a GREAT IDEA to give Boozer the left over bone from the Easter ham.  It only lasted a few mintues before I took it away and put it in the trash.  Something about a 7lb dog getting a 7lb ham bone. . .

Happy Easter Everyone

Easter this year was very simple and easy - we sat down for a nice breakfast and then watched General Conference.  During the break we played spent some family Wii time playing Super Mario Brothers.

As you can see from above Micah spent most of the time in the kitchen making the Smith Family Secret Frozen Salad . . . .  for those of you that do not know there are NO strawberries or coconut, but this time Micah decided he wanted to try something new.

I was in charge of the ham and funeral potatoes (thanks to Terryn I have a recipe) - I had been sick the prior five days and was in no way ready to make a full course holiday dinner, but I did what I could to help out.

Prom Scavanger Hunt

Here are some of the pictures Sage captured along the way . . .
There were twelve clues placed around West Point and Syracuse that lead to the next location.
The final clue read " Sage and Chakell Congratulations!  You have completed your mission.  As you can see this is our round about way of asking; will you two go to prom with us?
Sam and David

Sam asks Sage to Prom

Sam finally decided what he wanted to do for Prom . . . and after several great ideas he came up with an idea all his own!  Sam and I (and yes I mean me too) took a drive around the area between the 'prom dates' house and ours to find several location we could leave clues for a scavenger hunt.  Tweleve fliers later we were ready to put his plan to the test.

'Prom Date' received a text message from an unknown number (thanks to Sadie) that read "Special Agent Prom do you have access to a car, a digital camera and an assistant named  Chakell (Chakell was being asked by Sam's friend, David).  Can you accept this mission?"  Once she accepted the mission she was told the first clue would arrive at 7pm to her home.
